Your topside panel / touchpad or UCP (upper control panel) may have burned out backlighting bulbs. These bulbs are easily replaced.
• With the power off, gently pry up the topside control panel with a screwdriver. Next, locate the grey bulb holes in the back of the panel. Use a screwdriver to turn the bulb approximately 7 mm to remove and replace the bulb. (Needle-nose pliers may also be useful.)
