Switching over to AquaFinesse.
We recommend that your spa is first thoroughly cleaned of old biofilm, calcium and grime (which often nestles unseen in the pipe work) by using our Spa Clean product. The water should then be drained and refilled; you are now ready for the unique bathing experience that only AquaFinesse can offer.

Starting up a new spa.
During the manufacturing process spas are filled with water and tested. As this is generally done on a production line system the water can contain dust and debris from other spas and the factory itself, up to one litre of this water can remain in the pipe work of your spa after draining, allowing biofilm to grow.
For this reason all new spas should be treated with a chlorine shock once installed.
You can start using AquaFinesse in you new spa 4-6 hours after the chlorine shock has taken place. In the first few weeks it is not uncommon to see slightly cloudy water this is a natural process as AquaFinesse does its job and begins to break down the biofilm from the walls and pipe work. During this period please ensure that your filters are washed regularly. Once this purging or cleaning period is over your water will be crystal clear.
We do find that most customers choose not to go through the purging period by simply using an AquaFinesse product called 'Spa Clean. This is a 'one off' environmentally friendly treatment which cleans your spa thoroughly from the inside out.

Note on testing:
Under normal circumstances the pH and Alkalinity of your water will not need adjusting as AquaFinesse contains a natural balancing agent however, strip testing is advised as certain geographical areas experience extreme high or low calcium levels in the water. If you find that your water levels need to be adjusted this can be done simply and will not interfere with the workings of AquaFinesse, please ask your dealer for advice.

What is AquaFinesse?

AquaFinesse is a completely different spa maintenance alternative to chlorine or bromine.   We provide clean, clear and odour-free water with only one cup per week!   AquaFinesse also softens hot tub water by eliminating calcium and scale build-up from the spa's equipment.   Aquafinesse not only makes your life easier, it also extends the life of your hot tub by up to three times longer than traditional sanitisers.

When used in combination with a good working ozone or silver ion system, no additional sanitizers are needed.   However, we recommend that you still maintain a minimum level of 1.5-ppm chlorine in the spa water. To meet these standards, we strongly suggest using the provided sanitising tablets as directed in the slow-release dispenser. Soon, your water will be in the best shape of its life: no pH products , clarifiers or additional chemicals needed!

How do we supply AquaFinesse?

AquaFinesse comes in a convenient carrying case that contains everything you need for up to 6 months of effective spa water treatment. The box contains two bottles of the AquaFinesse™ solution, a measuring cup, sanitising tablets, slow release dispenser and a very easy to understand instruction card.

Can I use AquaFinesse in any hot tub ?

AquaFinesse works with all tubs as long as the tub has an effective filtration system, removable/cleanable filters and a means of providing water circulation through the filters for at least 4 hours a day. It can be used in Softubs, Spa in a box, Haliburtans, and similar soft tubs with the use of a floating dispenser.

Can I use AquaFinesse in a spa with water that already has chlorine or bromine in it?

If the hot tub has just been emptied and refilled with fresh water, you can immediately switch to AquaFinesse.   For a spa that has been sanitised with chlorine or bromine for more than one week, you must drain 1/3 the spa and refill it with new water before using AquaFinesse™.

How do I use AquaFinesse?

Take one bottle from the case and read the label for the recommended weekly dose.   Shake well and use the measuring cup to pour the directed amount of AquaFinesse into the hot tub water. Turn on the jets and leave them running for at least two minutes to fully mix in the solution.

When used in combination with a good working ozone or silver ion system, no additional sanitisers are needed. However, recommend that you maintain a minimum level of 1.5-ppm chlorine in the spa water. We strongly suggest using the provided sanitising tablets as directed in the slow-release dispenser.

Place one AquaFinesse sanitising tablet into the dispenser, secure cap and place dispenser on top of the water filter (or in the basket).   Allow the dispenser to fill with water.   Before using your tub, ensure that the dispenser is placed in the filter and working properly. The tablet can also be placed in a floating dispenser.

Do I need to "shock" the spa water before starting the AquaFinesse system?

No, it is not necessary to shock your water before starting the AquaFinesse system.   However, there are certain situations in which we recommend a chlorine shock.   With brand new tubs, we suggest shocking the water after you've filled the spa for the first time.   If you also have concerns about the quality of your water supply, you can shock the water before starting with AquaFinesse™.

YOU MUST WAIT 6 HOURS AFTER SHOCKING BEFORE adding AquaFinesse.

What do the sanitizing tablets do?

A small chlorine tablet is used in conjunction with our slow-release dispenser to kill all the bacteria from your tub after it's captured in the filter. The amount of residual chlorine remaining in your spa water is very minimal. This small dose significantly reduces unpleasant smells, dryness or bleaching effects typically associated with chlorine use.

There is a gritty feeling on the walls it's almost like sitting on sandpaper. I don't want to have to empty it?

It would seem that your tap water contains high levels of calcium, so refilling the hot tub with fresh water at this stage would only reintroduce more calcium worsening the problem. To remove the gritty feeling from the surfaces you will need to artificially lower your pH level with pH- down to 6 on the tester strips for a 24 hour period this will loosen it from the walls. A constant or frequent filtration cycle will be needed to gather up the calcium deposits washing them into filter. Your filters will need to be cleaned thoroughly after the treatment. Please do not use your hot tub during this process, and until your water levels are within the acceptable guidelines. The use of Spa Scale Away will help to prevent this problem in future.

I just started with AquaFinesse and my water is dirty and cloudy?

This is a sign that the AquaFinesse is working properly to recondition your spa water and equipment. If your spa is older than six months, a considerable amount of calcium and scale buildup will be released by AquaFinesse™ and flushed into your spa.

During this reconditioning period, we recommend that you clean your filter(s) twice a week.   This helps to ensure that clean and clear water is flowing through your hot tub. When spa is not in use, ensure that the valves, jets and water features are open and water is allowed to flow through them. Soon your water will be soft and odour-free without feeling slimy or greasy.

How often should I clean the filters in my hot tub?

AquaFinesse™ works very closely with your tub's filtration system to ensure total water sanitation.   We recommend cleaning the filters twice a week for the first two weeks.   After this initial conditioning period, you should clean or rotate your filters on a weekly basis. For easier maintenance, we also recommend that you purchase back-up filters and rotate them regularly.

What's the best way to clean the filters?

For weekly maintenance, remove the filters from the tub and rinse them completely using the garden hose. Once a month, soak the filter(s) in a bucket using a filter cleaner and rinse off filters before re-use.   Always allow the filter(s) to dry completely before reinserting them into the tub.

How often should I use AquaFinesse to clean my hot tub water?

Use AquaFinesse as directed once a week: DO NOT overdose. Set a specific day for this. The sanitising tablet should be replaced in its dispenser as soon as it has dissolved (approximately 5 to 10 days).

What happens if I overdose my hot tub with AquaFinesse?

If an overdose occurs, you must drain 1/3 of your hot tub water, refill with fresh water and make sure you thoroughly clean the filters before re-inserting them.   Always make sure you do not overdose.

How often should I change the spa water?

We recommend changing your water every three to four months. A good system is to refresh your water each time you purchase a new box of AquaFinesse.
