Welcome to PoolandSpaCentre's Ozone shop, Ozone is very gentle to skin and eyes and is pH neutral, however, it is a powerful oxidiser and sanitiser.

It is made available for hot tubs and spas through the use of a device called an Ozonator. Ozone is formed when three atoms of oxygen are connected together, instead of the normal two. Ozone not only destroys bacteria, it also also oxidizes soap, deodorant, hair spray, cologne, makeup, perfume, body lotion, hand cream, sun tan lotion, saliva, and urine. Ozone also oxidizes combined chlorine and bromine, freeing them to be continuously reused. The result is water that is cleaner, clearer, and smoother feeling to the skin.

Ozone is generated by ultraviolet (UV) light or by corona discharge (CD). Older units found in hot tubs use UV light ozonators (the most common being Balboa's cylinderical Ozonator, these have now been replaced by the more efficient CD chip units. The ozonator is connected electrically to the spa's controller to operate with the low speed pump. The ozone is introduced into the jet lines using an ozone injector / mazzei.

Both system run for 18 months and then need replacing – with corona discharge you can typically by a chip to help reduce the replacement costs.
