Certikin plate heat exchangers work by allowing recovery of the heat contained in one fluid being transferred to another fluid via a series of thin metallic plates to conduct the heat.
The fluids flow across the heat exchanger in opposite directions (Counter-current flow) to maintain a constant heat transfer.
The surface of each plate is manufactured with a pattern of grooves or channels allowing the fluids to flow across each one in turn.
A gasket on each plate prevents the two fluids from contacting each other.
The plates are pressed and held together at each end by two steel pressure plates and tightened using threaded steel bars with nuts.
Having trouble finding which kW Plate Heat Exchanger you need?
Firstly you will need to know the amount of water in your pool (For example 27,000 gallons).
We say roughly you need 10 btu's per gallon for outdoor pools and 6 btu's per gallon for indoor pools (Lets take it we have an outdoor pool).
The calculation we would do is 10btu (Outdoor) x 27000 gallons (pool volume) = 270,000 btu’s.
The next step is to take your pools BTU amount (270,000) and times it by 0.000293 to give you the correct size kW heat exchanger you require.
So for example 270,000 x 0.000293 = 79.11kW.
From this example we would roughly need a 79kW heat exchanger to heat the pool. However we recommend you always go for the larger size heat exchanger as you won’t want to underheat your pool. So in this case we would recommend the 105kW heat exchanger from the product column on the right rather than the 69kW version.
NOTE: This is a rough calculation based on standard heating temperatures.
