This is a quick guide on why you would choose a dedicated pool boiler instead of using a domestic boiler. When you make the choice to use Natural Gas or Propane / LPG to heat your pool it is easy to think that you can just get an off-the-shelf domestic boiler to use. Of course, you can do this modern domestic rated boilers are as a rule very good for use in your home. To ensure you get the most from your pool please bear the following in mind:
At first look, the use of a domestic boiler against a dedicated pool boiler is the price. A domestic boiler will in the main be cheaper to buy, however, the savings you make will be reduced when you have to add in the price of the Heat Exchange unit that needs to be fitted to transfer the heat from the domestic boiler to your pool. Depending upon the size of the boiler and the type of sanitation you use a Heat Exchange unit could be as much as another £1000+ on top of the domestic boiler you have bought.Whereas a dedicated boiler will have the heat exchanger built in and plumbs directly into the pool water circuit. It will with all our dedicated boilers be made of Titanium as standard. This would be an expensive option on a separate exchange unit. The other disadvantage of a domestic boiler is the temp the boiler can deliver to an exchange unit. Most domestic boilers will struggle to reach the high temps needed to operate an exchange unit to its most efficiency. A dedicated boiler rated at say 50kw will be due to the modern design and use of condensing technology will get 47kw into the pool water or 94% efficiency. A domestic boiler A: Will not normally go as high as 50KW B: Will lose some of the efficiency by using a separate exchange unit as it will in most cases to get the most out of the boiler will need to be oversized but even then will not achieve as much as 94%.The most in our opinion compelling argument for a dedicated pool boiler is that of service life. These products are developed and built to do just one job. We only list Certikin Boilers because in our experience they are the best at this job. A domestic boiler will be working very hard at the job it was not designed to perform to heat very large amounts of water to between 28-30°C. If your water chemistry is maintained a dedicated boiler will give you many many years of trouble-free service, in our experience, we can not say the same of domestic boilers re-purposed to pool heating.
We have a wide range of boilers to suit most size pools we can even supply very large boilers for small to medium size Commercial applications. We also list a comprehensive range of spares for all the boilers we sell.If your budget will allow then our advice is to always choose a dedicated boiler if you can not run to this then please seek advice on the size of the domestic boiler required and we here at poolandspacentre.co.uk will help you with finding the correct exchanger to allow you to use the boiler you have.Email our Technical Team at info@poolandspacentre.co.uk to advise you.
