This is the Frost Stat, a frost protection thermostat controller which switches the pump on when water falls below the set temperature. Forcing the pump on will move the water around, increasing pressure in the pipes which will lower the freezing point.
To effectively check the temperature of the pool, the Frost Stat features a digital display of temperature and is equipped with a temperature probe. Low and high set points are adjustable.
